I’m from Pennsylvania so corn bread wasn’t a regular in my cook book. I moved to North Carolina recently and I’m learning about southern cooking. When one of my members requested I bring corn bread to the BBQ, she stipulated that it be moist and touch sweet. So this recipe was right on.

I checked after 18 mins and there was a large perfectly square bumpy area in the middle. It looked done and a toothpick came out clean but it was still raw in certain places. I covered with foil for a few more mins but it definitely did not look pretty

Hi temp causes the dough to rise optimally. I usually start with high heat for a few minutes, then turn oven down. Works with cornbread, too.

Omg y’all! This is the best homemade cornbread. If you like your cornbread sweet, this is the receipt for you. My oven tends to bake things super quick. I set oven to 450 and baked for 15 mins. It came out perfect. Thank you so much.

We turn it to 450 for about 20-25 minutes, It almost burned caught it just in time. I think everyone oven is different some cook faster than others. Adjust to your best temperature .

I put it on 450 degrees and in 15 minutes my cornbread was nearly burned. I smelled it right on time; I thought it spilled over. I turned the oven down to 350 degrees and covered with aluminum foil to finish baking. I can’t say this was great as it was slightly burned.

This is the best cornbread recipe that I have used. I used Splenda brown sugar blend instead of white sugar. It came out perfect and paired well with my spicy chilli. Thank you for Sharing!☺

Really good cornbread. I’ve made this 3 times already. Is there a reason the temperature to bake is 450? It came out REALLY DARK. I have an oven thermometer and I also DID cover with foil but still the bottom and top very dark brown. I did lower temp this last time after 15 min of baking to 350 degree however, it still came out very dark. Is there any scientific reason to bake this at a high temperature initially rather than starting it at a lower temperature? Thanks
