League of Legends is no stranger to bugs, both big and small, and these glitches tend to surface especially with the release of new updates or champions. Recently, following the 14.14 update, the community discovered an amusing yet problematic bug.

For reasons not entirely understood, champions utilizing abilities like Ekko, Illao, and certain aspects of Rengar while targeting enemy structures such as Inhibitors or the Nexus, fail to execute their leap. Instead, these champions appear to attack from an extended range, resembling ranged champions.

This bug was thoroughly investigated and confirmed by Vandiril, a prominent content creator known for testing and showcasing it. He conducted an experiment with Ivern and Rengar, revealing that Rengar, even without using his ultimate, could attack the Nexus from within a brush, bypassing the usual melee range restrictions.

The extent of this bug’s impact is still uncertain. It’s unclear whether it affects only Ekko, Illaoi, and Rengar or if it applies to all champions with jump abilities and attack buffs. Nevertheless, this glitch provides significant advantages to these melee champions during late-game fights, allowing them to safely attack structures from a distance, much like ranged champions.

However, exploiting this bug requires the enemy to be pushed back to their Nexus turrets, limiting its impact in the early to mid-game stages. Thus, while it presents a notable advantage in certain situations, it doesn’t offer an overwhelming benefit for consistent rank climbing. Despite this, it is significant enough that Riot Games will need to address it promptly to maintain game balance and fairness.

In summary, this bug, although humorous at first glance, creates an unfair advantage for specific champions when attacking key enemy structures. Riot Games will likely prioritize a fix to ensure the gameplay consistency.

The developer recently provided LoL and FGC fans with an update on Project L’s development status and provided a brief preview of its fighting system.

Here is all we currently know about Project L, including its characters, commands, and rollback netcode information.

Project L

The League of Legends creator Riot Games is working on a free-to-play, assist-based fighting game called Project L.

The game will include several League of Legends champions as well as Runeterra locations like Piltover and Zaun.

As executive producer and technical lead, respectively, Tom and Tony Cannon are in charge of overseeing the game’s development. Additionally, the two co-founded the GGPO rollback netcode scheme and the Evolution Championship Series, a famous FGC event.

Release date

Project L’s release date has not yet been made public.

The most recent official update from Riot Games occurred in November 2021 and it covered RiotX Arcane-related gameplay mechanics and new characters.

Fighters

So far, there would be five League of Legends champions being tested by the developer:

• Ahri
• Darius
• Ekko
• Jinx
• Katarina
• Illaoi

Basic controls

Players choose a main fighter and an assist character who aids in attacks and extends combinations in the 2.5D format of the game.

The most recent video highlighted Darius’ combos and demonstrated the kinds of inputs fans of fighting games may anticipate.

The game has so far shown two command kinds with three versions each, A and S. (A1, A2, and A3).

Moreover, fighters will also have special moves that can be used for a flashy combo.

Rollback netcode

The game is confirmed to use rollback netcode for online multiplayer.

Riot Games has said that during latency spikes, just the player who is lagging would be impacted for the duration of the game. The netcode can decide who should win and who should be penalized if a player withdraws from a match.

Riot Direct will be used by Project L to route gamers and reduce latency during online gaming. League of Legends and Valorant have already begun using this internal network.

Project L was teased briefly during Riot’s League of Legends’ 10th-anniversary stream in October 2019. The game’s director, Tom Cannon, spoke about their goals and showed off some prototyped gameplay.

All of the game’s characters belong to distinct classes, bringing their traditional skills to a new type of game. The developers just released another fighter, reigniting interest in Project L.

According to a recent dev blog, the muscular Juggernaut, Illaoi, is making her way to Project L after playing an important role in the story of Ruined King. In League of Legends, Illaoi is a slow but tanky champion that will make an impact in Project L.

Illaoi’s look will stay mostly unchanged, according to assistant game director Shaun “UNCONKABLE!!!!” Rivera. The juggernaut isn’t the nimblest fighter on the roster, but she packs a powerful punch.

“Illaoi is a powerful and charismatic spiritual leader who inspires others to be their own unstoppable force. She turns heads and dominates a room with her physical presence and confident, purposeful swagger,”

Her enormous hitboxes and biceps will make her a punishing character, but players may find her difficult to navigate. The fighter will mostly shine brightest in close combat.

The developer is still tweaking the move set of the massive hard-hitter. The major focus is on the functioning of her tentacles, Nagakabouros, Illaoi’s god. According to the concept picture, the objective is to make her a danger at all ranges.

Project L is still in the works, and while Illaoi appears to be promising thus far, the devs will continue to refine her kit. Despite not being particularly popular in League of Legends, the champion will undoubtedly be an interesting addition to the fighting game. 

Riot has released several of excellent skins this year, with many more on the way. The Ocean Song skins are already available on the live servers with patch 12.11. And, Riot has also announced new skins coming for Patch 12.12.

Riot Games today announced Snow Moon, a stunning new skin set starring Illaoi, Caitlyn, and Kayn. This also indicates that Star Guardian 2022 skins will not be introduced in the upcoming patch, so fans will have to wait a bit longer.

The new Snow Moon skins will most likely be a new addition to the Blood Moon world, providing players the opportunity to play on a different side of the parallel universe with three new cosmetics. Each skin has a mild, relaxing bluish-white hue with blood moon red flecks, and their recall animations show them transitioning from a blood moon to a standard snow moon.

Kayn is probably the more unique champion with the new skin among the three Snow Moon champions as he can transform into different forms. Riot has offered players the option of transforming Kayn into one of two iterations: Blood Moon Rhaast or Snow Moon Kayn.

In his red form, the evil within takes possession of Kayn’s body in a horrific animation and is painted a crimson color. Then, in his blue form, Kayn is able to defeat the monster inside him which is reflected by his all-white outfit and frosted moon.

Each of the champion receiving the new skin line will be listed as Epic skins, which cost players a total of 1350RP to own one. Snow Moon Illaoi, Caitlyn, and Kayn skins will be available in League of Legends Patch 12.12, which is set to be released on June 23.

Riot Phlox, lead designer on the dev team, recently tweeted the preview of champions planned for modifications. Patch 12.4 will feature mainly on champion adjustments, acknowledging any items or systems in the game. Though fighter items may need more than a patch to stabilize, but specific champions haven’t received the push back into the limelight that Riot would want, including 3 Fighters Aatrox, Sett, and Illaoi.

The extent of the buffs should be known shortly, but while Aatrox has seen some picks, Sett hasn’t been a common pick on the Rift like he used to, that and along with the Fighter items adjustments.

Speaking of choices that were more common in early 2021, ADC with a stronger early game emphasis have been notably missing from professional play, since Jhin and the new champion Zeri have been taking all the spotlight. Therefore, Riot is swinging the scale back in that way with this patch. Along with Lucian and Xayah, Ashe and Kalista will receive some attention from Riot in the upcoming patch 12.4. 

The biggest issue in balancing AP junglers is keeping their clearing speed fair, especially early on in the game. AP junglers haven’t experienced the same levels of success since last year, but improvements to Rumble and Amumu might help, especially with the new Amumu’s Q.

All in all, patch 12.4 will focus mostly on champions with the aim of bringing them back to the meta. Players should expect patch 12.4 to arrive on the live servers on 16 February.

Seraphine

Not long after disappearing from the recent nerf, Seraphine was quickly buffed back by Riot in Patch 11.11. According to a detailed announcement from Riot Scruffy, the head of League of Legends playstyle design, this champion has been buffed directly and indirectly.

Specifically, Seraphine has a slight stat increase in W – Surround Sound, which will slightly increase her ability to create Armor for herself and her allies in the late game. Not over yet, 2 core items of Seraphine and all Support Buff, the Moonstone Renewer, and the Staff of Flowing Water have also been strengthened. The most significant is the Moonstone Renewer with the ability to Heal and Create Shield increased at a maximum of 20% up to 30%. Besides Seraphine, champions like Lulu, Soraka, Lux… will also benefit from this change and are expected to return more.

Illaoi

Back in the Top lane, Illaoi is a champion that does not have any stat changes in patch 11.11 but is still evaluated by Riot as a much-increased strength. Mainly comes from a lot of important item of this champion has been adjusted quite significantly.

The first is the legendary item Divine Sunderer that has the ability to heal from the Passive, which is very suitable for Illaloi’s playstyle. Next is the Black Cleaver which is also a bit stronger in the ability to break the opponent’s armor. The trio of resistance items: Frozen Heart, Raduin’s Omen, and Warmog’s Armor have also received significant changes, and all of these items are suitable for Illaoi to use.

In her world, Illaoi is a prophet, she uses a giant golden statue to remove enemy souls from her body and smash their perception.

Every challenger soon discovers Illaoi is never alone in battle – the Snake Islands’ gods always stand by her side.

According to the story of Illaoi, she is Gangplank’s first love. In a Miss Fortune conversation, an entourage talking about Illaoi, she revealed that Illaoi and Gangplank had a “relationship” with each other. It can be said that this is a “one-night affair” between these two champions.

In addition, this Patch also brought big changes for some of the nearly forgotten game champions like Illaoi and Udyr.

The new general who appeared in this Patch is Qiyana. Qiyana’s skills depend on topography such as rivers, dust and walls that can increase the power of her skills.

Several other changes, both Udyr and Illaoi, have received some significant changes. This is considered a mini rework when it changes quite a lot of the of both champion.

1. New Champion Qiyana officially release

Patch 9.13 with the release of Qiyana – the 145th new general. Qiyana and the only Assassin general released in the League of Legends for a very long time – basically it can be said since Zed – this has made her one of the most interesting champions recently released.

In addition, Qiyana has a unique skill set when it can change depending on the terrain she is standing on. Qiyana may have a bit of difficulty adapting to the current meta, but at least she is still very interesting for the player to test.

2. New Mode Teamfight Tactics

The new game mode most interested by players during the past time – Teamfight Tactics was officially launched in version 9.13.

As a mode based on League of Legends but this is a completely independent mode when new players can participate and experience quite easily.

With the Teamfight Tactics, personal skills will no longer matter, all based solely on tactics and … dignity. Players will be confronted with 7 other players in a race to build the strongest team and the last survivor will win. It is known that this mode is still experimental and players may encounter some errors during the game but Riot will care about the player’s feedback and complete this mode in the shortest time.

3. Illaoi received a lot of changes

Illaoi has been release for nearly 4 years and she has never found her position. Therefore, the change of Patch 9.13, she is expected to appear more.

W now has a minimum damage of 20/30/40/50/60 and additional damage will be applied to the turrets. Illaoi also receives a number of changes with the E which includes the time the enemy’s soul is held will no longer decrease when they attack Illaoi. Hopefully these changes will be enough to help her return to League of Legends.

4. Udyr receives some changes

This Patch 9.13 of Riot will bring some changes for Udyr. First, all of Udyr’s skills can now reach level 6, giving a little more power at the end of the game and a few more options for Riot to balance.

This will help Udyr no longer fall into an OP situation or are too useless when buffed or nerfed. In addition, Riot also changes the stats of all skills and surely these changes will make him stronger than the present.

5. Release Skins Arcade

A variety of Arcade skins have been released in Patch 9.13. This time, this group outfit will be designed for Kai’Sa and Caitlyn – Caitlyn will also receive the Prestige Edition version.
