Scientists have recently named a newly discovered crab species after this little Yordle scout

Marine biologists found a new crab species in the coral reefs of the South China Sea and decided to name it after Teemo, one of League of Legends’ most infamous champions. The crab, now officially called Gothus teemo, was given this name due to its appearance. This crab from the Xanthidae family is described as small with a “densely covered short setae” and has a brown-striped coloration.

The discovery was published in the journal Zoosystematics and Evolution. It was made during an expedition to the coral reefs of the South China Sea by marine biologists Zi-Ming Yuan, Wei Jiang, and Zhong-Li Sha.

During scuba diving expeditions, they carefully photographed and collected a few specimens of the crab, which are now housed at the Marine Biological Museum in the city of Qingdao.

Teemo is a fluffy, brown, and white-colored champion in League of Legends, known for his small size. His cute appearance has made him popular, resulting in various plushies and figurines. However, in the game, he is often disliked due to his frustrating spells that poison other players.

The Gothus teemo crab has a small, fluffy appearance similar to the Swift Scout. Its key features include a “dense coat of short setae” and brown-striped coloration, which reminded scientists of Teemo’s furry coat and his camouflage abilities.

This is the first time an animal has been named after a League of Legends character, though it’s not the first instance of a video game inspiring a scientific name. Gothus teemo joins a list of species named after characters from popular media like video games, including names from The Legend of Zelda, Street Fighter, and even Pokémon.

Another Patch 14.2 hotfix changes for Brand, Teemo, and Rumble https://notagamer.net/patch-14-2-hotfix-changes-brand-teemo-rumble/ https://notagamer.net/patch-14-2-hotfix-changes-brand-teemo-rumble/#respond Sat, 27 Jan 2024 02:37:36 +0000 https://notagamer.net/?p=69546 Riot Games recently implemented a hotfix patch 14.2 in League of Legends, which introduced adjustments to several champions, including Teemo, Rumble, and Brand.

This update follows on the heels of Patch 14.1, a release that marked the first major patch of the year. However, despite its significance, Patch 14.1 notably lacked substantial alterations to champion balance, with the exception of Hwei, who received a much-needed buff.

As the dust settles with Patch 14.2, the meta appears to be stabilizing, albeit with certain AP champions suffering significant setbacks due to the recent nerfs. Recognizing the need for swift intervention, Riot Games has opted to address some through a targeted hotfix.

League of Legends Patch 14.2 hotfix

Teemo

  • E On-Hit damage: 14-58 + 25% AP >>> 14-66 + 30% AP

Rumble

  • E Damage: 60/…/160 + 40% AP >>> 60/…/160 +50% AP

Brand

  • Passive Monster Damage: 230% >>> 220%
  • Max health damage per stack: 2.5% >>> 2%

Among those impacted by the Stormsurge changes, Teemo stands out as one of the most affected champions. Despite the adjustments to Stormsurge, Teemo has struggled to reclaim his former prowess, prompting Riot to implement buffs aimed at restoring his viability in gameplay.

Similarly, Rumble, whose core itemization revolves around Stormsurge, found himself grappling with the repercussions of these changes. With the latest buffs, Rumble players can anticipate reliability and effectiveness.

Conversely, Brand’s ascent in the jungle meta, fueled by his remarkable clear speed and augmented by the introduction of new items, has rendered him a formidable force in League of Legends.

Unfazed by the Stormsurge nerfs, Brand has emerged unscathed, evolving into one of the premier junglers in the game. Consequently, Riot has deemed it necessary to rein in his burgeoning power through targeted nerfs in the hotfix.

ARAM has been so much worse after the removal of this item https://notagamer.net/aram-worse-removal-item/ https://notagamer.net/aram-worse-removal-item/#respond Wed, 17 Jan 2024 07:45:21 +0000 https://notagamer.net/?p=69207 League of Legends players are asserting that the removal of the item Oracle’s Elixir from the ARAM game mode has detrimentally impacted the overall quality of games.

LoL players are frustrated over the removal of Oracle’s Elixir from ARAM

aram

Renowned for its extensive gameplay variety, Riot Games’ MOBA boasts over 160 champions, providing players with many choices to explore and enjoy.

Recognizing the varied preferences of its player base, Riot has curated alternative game modes beyond the 5v5 Summoner’s Rift experience, catering to a more casual audience. ARAM stands as one such mode that has undergone numerous modifications over time, each influencing the player experience in distinct ways.

However, the recent removal of Oracle’s Elixir from ARAM has triggered a surge of discontent among League of Legends players. Many argue that the game mode was more enjoyable before the absence of this key item, citing frustrations with the impact on Teemo, exacerbated by the introduction of new items.

Teemo, a champion known for his ability to place invisible traps, possesses an annoying arsenal and capable of causing substantial damage with DoT effect to affected targets.

In the past, Oracle’s Elixir provided a vital tool for revealing these Teemo’s mushrooms. However, with its removal, players now find themselves reliant on the true sight of cannon minions to detect and navigate around these mushrooms.

There are some champs that just make me want to leave at the loading screen. Healers and teemo mostly.”

“I clearly remember Riot acknowledging it is a problem and that they’re coming up with a solution. That was like 2 years ago,”

Despite the introduction of experimental elements in ARAM, such as portals and destructible tower terrain, the League of Legends community remains vocal about the adverse impact of Oracle’s Elixir’s absence.

This outcry from players serves as a reminder to developers about the cherished consumable’s role in enhancing the ARAM experience.

List of upcoming Champion Releases and Reworks in League of Legends https://notagamer.net/champion-releases-reworks-league-of-legends/ https://notagamer.net/champion-releases-reworks-league-of-legends/#respond Mon, 17 Jul 2023 07:28:24 +0000 https://notagamer.net/?p=62913 In League of Legends, several champions are now receiving a top-to-bottom rework, and the Rift will also soon receive whole new champions.

With new upgrades and features, developers are always improving League of Legends for the players. While the community’s favourite champions receive upgrades that preserve their core mechanics and characteristics, the game also got new champions that change the meta and provide players with more mechanics.

The timing of impending champion upgrades might be perplexing because there are several changes and new champions being developed. So, here are the list of changes to League champions in the latter phase of 2023 and early 2024.

New champions

Naafiri

League Players have already considered Naafiri "the best Jungler in the game" 1
Image via Riot Games

Riot revealed two new champions who will join League’s roster this year as the 2023 season got underway. Male enchanter Milio has already joined the group. Now it’s time for Naafiri, a new Darkin assassin.

Naafiri excels in one-on-one fighting since she is an assassin, and that is exactly what she will be doing as a mid laner most of the time. Her capacity to produce pack of dogs that actively hunt down the particular foe Naafiri is assaulting is the key element of her kit. She can even expand her pack as part of her passive attack.

On July 19, Patch 13.14, which includes Naafiri’s base skin and the Soul Fighter summer event, will be released for League.

Briar

04282023_ChampRoadmapArticle_Briar_teaser_Web.png
Image via Riot Games

Another forthcoming champion, Briar, was hinted at in April’s champion roadmap. While we are unsure of the role she will play, the developers stated that she was inspired by “the idea of exploring an uncontrollable hunger, and what happens when that hunger sometimes takes over.”

Briar is almost certainly a Noxian vampire of some type. Riot Games classifies her as a Diver/Skirmisher champion. It’s hardly subtle, with references to frenzies, bloodlust, and an uncontrolled appetite. A semi-feral vampire lurking in Noxus appears to be very plausible.

Although Briar does not yet have a release date, if Naafiri is going to be launched this summer, Briar ought to be available before the end of the year.

Ink Mage

Riot teased 2 future champions as "hangry jungler" and "artistic midlaner" in late 2023 2
Image via Riot Games

The Ink Mage, while it is new, the champion concept, however, is not new, and Riot is bringing back some old concepts. They intended to develop a champion that could physically sketch their skills a few years back.

The most important aspect of their kit would have been their ultimate, which allowed players to physically create terrain on the map. This would result in a slew of issues, but perhaps Riot has found out how to implement it years later.

Though no official date was released, the Ink Mage is speculated to be released after Briar.

Champion modifications

Jax: new visual updates

Jax, a beloved champion in the top lane, will soon receive the next visual change, according to the most recent champion roadmap.

Riot will be revamping a slew of Jax’s graphics as a consequence, including a new model, new animations and visual effects, updated splash images for older cosmetics, and a new voiceover.

He’s also been given a new narrative for why he fights with a moderate size stave rather than a real weapon: the brazier is the sole thing that he has left from his home of Icathia before it was destroyed by the terrible powers of the Void.

Although there is currently no set release date for Jax’s new appearance, it is anticipated to arrive this year.

Skarner: champion rework

Skarner Rework delayed, more Updates and Changes on the Crystal Vanguard 1
Image via Riot Games

In the VGU survey from January 2022, Skarner came forth on top, with the community clearly favouring him to have an aesthetic and gameplay overhaul. Since then, the developers have put in a lot of effort to update Skarner’s appearance and gameplay, which has undoubtedly thrilled his devotees.

Sadly, it was announced in a dev blog that Skarner’s revamp has been significantly delayed and won’t even be available until 2024.

Riot also hasn’t revealed anything about Skarner’s revamped powers in League of Legends, except for his ultimate ability. His new ultimate will allow him to capture a group of enemies instead of just only one.

However, because it now has two stages of damage, it will be possible to miss this ability, and it will do half the damage if someone cleanses out of it. There are certain advantages and disadvantages in contrast to the original, but it has a far greater impact on the game today than it did earlier.

Lee Sin and Teemo: ASU updates

Lee Sin and Teemo have been selected by Riot as the next ASU after further examination of other champions from the cast. Currently, Lee Sin’s ASU is slated for release in the first part of 2019, while Teemo will follow in the second half of 2024.

Many of the modifications done to Lee Sin are referred to as “quality of life” modifications, which include different model corrections and tweaks to his animations to bring him up to date.

The developers also noted that Teemo’s design has stayed mostly same throughout time and that his ASU would focus on the champion’s dimensions and model specifics, including minor adjustments to his iconic attire. Additionally, the Swift Scout will gain some new face motion to express his appearance better.

ASU, or Art and Sustainability Update, is a new form of champion rework in which the champion’s overall appearance, story, and voice-over are improved but their gameplay remains unchanged. And now, Riot Games has revealed when the two famous champions Lee Sin and Teemo will receive their long-awaited art and sustainability upgrades (ASU).

Executive producer Jeremy “Brightmoon” Lee and studio head Andrei “Meddler” van Roon disclosed estimated release dates for the two champs in a recent developer post, stating the team is aiming for a 2024 release for both. Lee Sin will be the first on the schedule, with an ASU release date in the first part of the year, followed by Teemo in the second half.

It may seem like a long wait for fans, but there are many details that must be mastered if Riot is to perform these improvements correctly. The devs plan to make Lee Sin’s power more visible in his design and abilities, improving gameplay clarity while modernising his animations.

Finally, the devs will have to polish up Lee Sin so that he retains the same feel as the previous champion while discovering that charm.

Teemo will receive a similar makeover, including improved spell animations, a new narration, extensive narrative, and some new recalls, in addition to additional face expressions on Summoner’s Rift.

His playstyle hasn’t altered much because he still rules locations with his Noxious Trap mushrooms while hiding in bushes with his invisibility. His animations and general appearance are also somewhat dated, and he would benefit from a fresh ASU.

His fundamental design and phrases have stayed unchanged since his introduction, and he is in serious need of a makeover with potential interactions with new champions.

One of the original champions in League of Legends is Teemo. He initially debuted in 2009, when the game was just getting launched. Even though he is over ten years old, Teemo is one of the most infamous stars in the game. Many players spend hundreds of hours playing the champion just because they like his jovial and mischievous demeanor.

One such player goes by the username “LeagueofLegends,” and he presently holds the record for the most Mastery Points on a single champion in League of Legends with over 20 million on Teemo alone.

If you’re not acquainted with Mastery Points, they are a method for players to demonstrate their mastery of a particular champion. A player gains mastery points, which are shown on their page, as they use a hero more frequently.

The player is known by the name “LeagueofLegends,” as was previously stated. He plays in the Vietnam region of League of Legends. It is unclear how many games he had to play to reach such high mastery points. Before 2023, Garena managed the Vietnam server, so there is no exterior means to view his performances from those years.

Nevertheless, he has played more than 900 more games than Teemo just this season so far. His account rank is 2186 as well, according to op.gg. So just by merely hearing that stats, you can imagine the time he had to dedicate.

Riot Games has begun to look at some of League of Legends’ older champions in order to ensure that they can keep up with the newest releases that have struck Summoner’s Rift in recent years.  ASU, or Art and Sustainability Update, is a new style of champion rework in which the champion’s general aesthetic, narrative, and voice-over are updated without altering their gameplay.

Riot Games recently published the latest dev blog on its YouTube channel.  Furthermore, the developer team has disclosed that Lee Sin and Teemo are the next champions on the list for an art and sustainability update, which should excite any longstanding players.

Although most players will acknowledge that the gameplay of these champions isn’t outdated, a fresh cover will be much welcomed as designs and animations continue to change as the creators have at their disposal.

Lee Sin ASU

Image via Riot Games

Lee Sin is a popular fave and one of the most frequently encountered champions in the game. He was among the first champions to have a high ability base and peak. As a result, he was very visible in both ranked and pro play. Every big event will have at least one player locking Lee Sin. Despite this, he hasn’t altered much since his debut in terms of aesthetics.

Teemo ASU

Teemo has also been a well-known champion since his debut but hasn’t seen much action in recent years. He has, however, become a honorary mascot of the game since its debut.

His playstyle hasn’t altered much because he still rules locations with his Noxious Trap mushrooms while hiding in bushes with his invisibility. His animations and general appearance are also somewhat dated, and he would benefit from a fresh ASU.

Though the Lee Sin and Teemo ASUs are next in line, Riot has not specified a release schedule for these changes. However, Ahri’s ASU required more than a year to create due to her excessive number of skins. Similarly, Lee Sin and Teemo have a variety of skins. As a result, their ASU could appear somewhere in 2024.

League Patch 11.21: Teemo to dominate Top lane 2
Image via Riot Games

Spha358, a League of Legends player, recently shared a stunning outplay on the official League subreddit by Teemo and Neeko at the start of their game. The two players build a trap in the top lane, resulting in an early Mordekaiser kill.

Nothing looked out of the usual at first. Mordekaiser began his laning versus Teemo in a typical way. The champion wasn’t hitting the minions, and Mordekaiser’s mid-lane teammate, Malzahar, reported that his opponent, Neeko, was gone.

The Teemo is revealed to be a disguised Neeko, with the real one hidden behind Mordekaiser’s back with his passive. After a few seconds, the “fake” one began assaulting Mordekaiser, while the real one revealed himself and focused on the other champion.

Mordekaiser had practically little hope of escaping death with the unexpected change of events and his weak position. The champ attempted to rescue himself without using a Flash, but Teemo’s Ignite proved his undoing, earning the latter first blood in a spectacular way.

Users in the comments of the video also expressed their thoughts on this unique cheese from Korea, claiming that this tactic can genuinely damage the players psychologically.

While this tactic is certainly annoying for the other team and should put the top laner at a significant disadvantage early on, especially against a range opponent, Neeko also likely lost a large number of minions in the mid-lane. As a result, it’s difficult to determine whether it’s worthwhile unless you want to perform a genuinely amazing trick on your enemies.

Riot Games has released the last event of 2022 or season 12, Space Groove 2022, as preseason 2023 approaches.

Space Groove is a new skin line in League of Legends that was released in 2021. It is set in a different universe where champions act like they’re in a cartoon or joy land. It is one of League of Legends’ more playful skin lines/universes.

Recently, a future set of Space Groove skins was revealed online earlier today, including new skins for Gragas, Lissandra, Nami, Ornn, Taric, Teemo, and Twisted Fate, with Nami receiving the Prestige Edition. The skins were initially seen on the Skin Spotlights YouTube channel, which has a history of pre-releasing League skins.

Dazzling lights and neon hues abound in every skin in the collection, as do vivid pinks, rich purples, and dark, resonant tones of blue are the main color scheme of this new set of skin line.

Each skin in this new set has a distinct recall that depicts the champion performing a dance party, and each ability in the skin line has its own animation. Certain abilities, such as Taric’s (R) and Twisted Fate’s (W), have new and distinct disco soundtracks, with the timing of the abilities synced to music.

Lulu received a prestige edition of her Space Groove skin last year. According to the report, the title will be given to another support this time, Nami.
