The high-stakes battles have been building to this peak moment, with the entire world tuning in to witness the next World Champions.

LoL Worlds 2023 Knockout Stage

The Swiss Stage concluded after a grueling two weeks of intense competition. Out of the 16 top-tier teams, only 8 have managed to secure their coveted tickets to the Knockout Stage.

Remarkably, all four LPL teams have proven their mettle by securing a spot in the quarterfinals, comprising half of the elite eight. In contrast, NA’s first seed stands alone as the sole Western representative still in the running.

The stage is now set for some electrifying matchups that promise to set the arena on fire. Gen.G is set to clash with Bilibili Gaming once again, while NRG prepares for a best-of-five rematch against Weibo Gaming. The tournament favorites, JD Gaming, are gearing up for an entertaining showdown with the KT Rolsters, and the fan-favorite T1 will face off against LNG Esports.

This captivating lineup sets the stage for an enthralling Knockout Stage with a composition of 4 LPL teams, 3 LCK teams, and one LCS team. In a notable contrast to the 2022 World Championship, where there were 4 LCK teams, 3 LPL teams, and 1 LEC team in the Knockout Stage, this year saw no LEC teams making it to the final rounds.

T1 set new records for the fastest win at MSI 2023 https://notagamer.net/t1-new-records-fastest-win-msi-2023/ https://notagamer.net/t1-new-records-fastest-win-msi-2023/#respond Fri, 12 May 2023 05:00:52 +0000 https://notagamer.net/?p=60870 T1 is known for their records breaking at both international and domestic tournament, and this MSI 2023 is no exception
T1 set new records for the fastest win at MSI 2023 6

At MSI 2023, T1 is shattering records as the LCK’s representative set the record for the second-fastest game in an international event in the match against MAD Lions.

The third game of the series between T1 and the LEC’s number-one seed MAD Lions at MSI 2023 was nothing short of thrilling. T1 ended the series with a victory in just roughly 17 minutes after collecting two overwhelming victories.

T1’s victory over MAD Lions is the second-fastest game in League of Legends history, clocking in just 16:50 minutes. T1 also holds the record for the fastest game in League of Legends international tournament, but with a loss. The record was set at MSI 2019 when Invictus Gaming beat T1 in 16:01 minutes.

Following this win, T1 advances to the next round of the tournament, where they will face Gen.G. On May 13, the LCK Spring finals will be rematched. G2 Esports and MAD Lions will compete in the loser’s bracket on the same day for the chance to stay.

T1 set new records for the fastest win at MSI 2023 7

After two days of competitors, the LCK representatives appear to be serious challengers for the crown. Because of MSI’s double-elimination system, a double LCK final remains possible.

Not only that, but Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok, T1 midlaner, also became the first LoL players to play 200 international matches.

T1 set new records for the fastest win at MSI 2023 8

Faker is still in terrific shape after 10 years in the game and continues to set records. Faker also has two MSI titles under his belt and could add a third in 2023.

Ruler separates from Gen.G after the 2022 Worlds https://notagamer.net/ruler-separates-from-gen-g-after-the-2022-worlds/ https://notagamer.net/ruler-separates-from-gen-g-after-the-2022-worlds/#respond Thu, 10 Nov 2022 18:20:08 +0000 https://notagamer.net/?p=54544 After competing at Worlds 2022, the reigning world champion ADC Ruler quit Gen.G. Despite winning the regular season championship with the squad, he will be moving in 2023.

For years, Park ‘Ruler’ Jae-hyuk has been regarded as one of the top ADCs in the world. He’s played at a high level ever since winning Worlds in 2017, and he ultimately won his first LCK title in 2022.

Ruler separates from Gen.G after the 2022 Worlds 9

Gen.G wasn’t able to maintain that level of performance at Worlds 2022 despite their victory in the LCK. On their way to the Semifinals, they narrowly defeated DWG KIA, but ultimately lost to DRX. At the time, that was seen as them underperforming, but now that DRX has won the championship, things aren’t quite so clear-cut.

Regardless, he officially left Gen.G after their performance at Worlds. He has made the decision not to sign a new contract with the company, and he will start looking for a new team in 2023.

Ruler separates from Gen.G after the 2022 Worlds 10

The only thing that could have matched Gen.G’s regular season success was to win the entire tournament, therefore it may seem strange to label a Semifinals run at Worlds as a failure. Teams who they easily defeated at home defeated them in Worlds, and Gen.G was unable to help Ruler win his second global championship.

Ruler’s jersey number is being retired in order to recognize his contributions to the team, according to Gen.G, who also released a film detailing Ruler’s accomplishments inside the company.

Although it is unknown which club this talented ADC player will join, given that he recently won the domestic championship, he is sure to be a hot commodity in the off-season.

LCK is guaranteed a Worlds 2022 final spot, players get Worlds 2021 Deja vu https://notagamer.net/lck-guaranteed-worlds-2022-final-worlds-2021-deja-vu/ https://notagamer.net/lck-guaranteed-worlds-2022-final-worlds-2021-deja-vu/#respond Tue, 25 Oct 2022 06:00:22 +0000 https://notagamer.net/?p=53804 LCK maintains their dominance at League of Legends Worlds 2022

The Worlds 2022 quarterfinals have been completed, with four teams remaining in the event to fight in the Semifinals, three of which are from South Korea.

This is a huge accomplishment for the LCK as a region and demonstrates the caliber of its teams. Based on the statistics, it is clear that the LCK teams have been dominant thus far at Worlds 2022.

Almost all of the South Korean teams advanced through the Group Stage, with only one being eliminated by another team from the same area.

As a result, their level of domination is definitely unrivaled, and the lone surviving Chinese team will face an uphill battle to overcome these South Korean powerhouses and capture the championship in the end.

LCK will be assured a spot in the League of Legends World Championship Finals

LCK is guaranteed a Worlds 2022 final spot, players get Worlds 2021 Deja vu 11

As previously stated, the region will have a guaranteed spot in the Grand Final of League of Legends Worlds 2022 this year.

Even if T1 falls to JDG, either Gen.G or DRX will advance to the Grand Final, giving South Korea a solid opportunity to win the Worlds 2022 title. While this may appear to be a significant accomplishment, it is not the first time it has occurred.

LCK is guaranteed a Worlds 2022 final spot, players get Worlds 2021 Deja vu 12
LCK is guaranteed a Worlds 2022 final spot, players get Worlds 2021 Deja vu 13

LCK has had DWG KIA as its representative in the World Championships Grand Final in both 2020 and 2021. Although DWG KIA won the title in 2020, it was defeated by EDG in 2021. Keep in mind that the same scenario happened at Worlds 2021 when EDG was the only Chinese representative in the semifinals, facing all 3 South Korean representatives at that time.

This will be the third year in a row that the LCK has qualified for the League of Legends World Championships Grand Finals. Regardless, whoever wins this year’s event will be making history.

LCK is guaranteed a Worlds 2022 final spot, players get Worlds 2021 Deja vu 14

If T1 wins, it will be the organization’s and its legendary player, Faker’s, fourth World’s title. If either Gen.G or JDG wins, it will be the first title for either organization. It will also be DRX’s first win as well, but it will mean considerably more because the team’s ADC, Deft, is likely to be playing in his final World Championship.

Worlds Group stage day 3: The Koreans strike back, NA still fails to get themselves on the scoreboard https://notagamer.net/worlds-group-stage-day-3-koreans-strike-back-na-fail/ https://notagamer.net/worlds-group-stage-day-3-koreans-strike-back-na-fail/#respond Mon, 10 Oct 2022 18:10:04 +0000 https://notagamer.net/?p=53067 After a rough day 2, LCK teams pulled themselves together and brought their A game for Worlds Group stage day 3. LCS home teams on the other hand still struggle to achieve a first win for the region.

After a 0-3 day 2, LCK teams collected themselves and swept 3-0 across all groups.

1st seed Gen.G lead the charge against LCS 2nd seed 100 Thieves. Despite commendable effort from Ssumday’s Top Lane Aatrox, horrendous performances from 100T’s ADC and midlaner FBI and Abbedagge proved to be too much, and NA takes their 7th loss of the Main Event

Next up is another NA representative: Cloud9 faced off against T1. Once again, C9 toplaner Fudge gets the counterpick priority Jax against Zeus’ Aatrox, and once again Fudge gets hilariously stomped. Gumayusi’s Kaisa gets a free 11-0-4 game and C9 bows out after 25 mins.

Toughest match of the day for the Koreans is definitely 4th seed DRX vs Chinese 2nd seed Top Esports. Many expected domination from TES but Pyosik’s Jungle Graves proves too meta, going 6-0-8 to propel DRX past the Chinese giants. Jackeylove lost over 700 stacks on his Draven at one time.

via Riot Games

All in all, LCK are responsible for both LCS losses on Worlds Group Stage day 3 and the only consolation for NA teams is that at least their flight home will be short.

LEC winning streak ended, GAM Esports still hasn’t managed to make their mark by Worlds Group stage day 3

Despite remarkable attempt from Kaiya’s Top Camille, VCS last hope GAM continues to look lackluster at the event. Rogue on the opposite are in top form proving themselves to be a real contender this year, extending LEC’s win streak to 4.

The streak was however immediately cut short as reigning champions EDward Gaming defeated EU 3rd seed Fnatic. Viper and Meiko’s Sivir/Yuumi got a 700 gold lead since minute 1 and the game was pretty much over even with Humanoid’s best efforts on his Azir mid.

Taiwanese representative Flying Oyster gets pummeled into submission by RNG in the remaining Bo1.

Worlds Main Event day 1: NA in shambles; tournament’s favorites Gen.G collapse https://notagamer.net/worlds-main-event-day-1-na-in-shambles-gen-g/ https://notagamer.net/worlds-main-event-day-1-na-in-shambles-gen-g/#respond Sat, 08 Oct 2022 15:34:56 +0000 https://notagamer.net/?p=52993 Worlds 2022 Main Event takes place in the U.S., and many NA fans may have started regretting it after their home teams get demolished on day 1. Joining them are GenG fans as they are swiftly defeated by LPL 4th Seed RNG Gaming.

All 3 NA LCS representatives suffered devastating losses straight out of day 1 of the Main Event

NA 1st seed Cloud9 face off against EU 3rd seed Fnatic in the opening Bo1 of Worlds 2022 Group Stage. Fans were hoping for an even matchup but the clean execution from Fnatic 5-man teamfights dragged Cloud9’s pick-off comp into their pace and Fnatic got away with an easy 1st blood of the tournament.

Onto group B the expectations are lowered as Evil Geniuses face off against Chinese 1st seed JD Gaming. EG was actually off on a good start leading in gold and experience but that’s just JDG’s usual slow start. As soon as the teamfights start happening EG were hopelessly outmatched as JDG Jungler Kanavi finishes the game 12-1-9 on Viego.

100 Thieves were the only hope left for NA as they only have to face off against SEA team CTBC Flying Oyster. I mean you can’t really lose to a team named Flying Oyster right? Well 100T managed to get beaten by the Oysters as their ADC Shunn goes deathless 10-0-1 on Kai’Sa

As a wise man once says, it’s not how you start, it’s how you finish. Maybe the slow 1st day might awake something slumbering really really really deep within the LCS boys!

Worlds Main Event day 1: NA in shambles; tournament's favorites Gen.G collapse 17

Gen.G were the tournament’s favorites according to most pros and casters. They did not look like one in their opening series against RNG

One of the most anticipated matches of the day, fans were hoping to see a battle between the ‘hyper-carries’ Ruler and GALA. Welp Gen.G decided to put their hyper-carry on a support champion Senna while Wei, Xiaohu and Ming relentless rotations shut down Gen.G’s midlaner Chovy and they tapped out 31 mins later.

Top players like LNG.Doinb or DWG.Showmaker put Gen.G on top of their Worlds tier lists, and for good reasons. But it seems the team has not gotten into their grooves just yet.

Speaking of anticipated games, can’t forget to mention match of the day: T1 vs EDG

LCK legend T1 faces off against reigning Worlds champions EDward Gaming for the 2nd match of Group A. The 2 teams have been on good form, so much hype was generated prior to the drafts. However, the game turned out decisively one-sided for T1 as they hand EDG the quickest loss of the day at 22 mins.

Faker receives his well-deserved Player of the Game for his 7-1-7 performance on Akali, but you cannot pass Oner over for praise. His jungle Lee Sin delivered lots of crucial steals and soaked up much of EDG’s arsenal to allow his teammates to seal the deal.

Top 5 best teams to compete in Worlds 2022 League of Legends https://notagamer.net/top-5-best-teams-worlds-2022-league-of-legends/ https://notagamer.net/top-5-best-teams-worlds-2022-league-of-legends/#respond Tue, 27 Sep 2022 11:08:48 +0000 https://notagamer.net/?p=52315 League of Legends Worlds 2022 is shaping up to be one of the most competitive tournaments in recent years. This is due to the extremely top quality of the teams that have competed this year.

Before beginning, it should be stated that the list is situational and that everyone is entitled to their own view and rating.

It is also important to note that the teams featured below are chosen based on their current status, player quality, and Summer Split outcomes. As a result, it is always conceivable that some will do better or worse once the tournament starts.

5 best team at this year’s Worlds 2022

JDG

Top 5 best teams to compete in Worlds 2022 League of Legends 20

There is little question that, among all the teams competing in Worlds 2022, JDG has the best chance of winning the championship as the crowned champion of the LPL Summer Split 2022. The team presently has the most skilled players, and the way the meta is evolving will help it in the end.

JDG’s toplaner, 369, is now the greatest in the world in his position, giving the team a significant edge. Kanavi, the team’s jungler, has demonstrated tremendous versatility in the role. Finally, JDG’s midlaner, Yagao, has been in terrific form recently, displaying solid synergy with his toplane and jungler.

Gen.G

LCK has always been a strong region among League of Legends, and Gen.G has dominated the whole area, including a 3-0 victory in the finals.

Top 5 best teams to compete in Worlds 2022 League of Legends 21

Chovy, Gen’G’s midlaner, is one of the top-mid0laners in the world, and he demonstrated during the Summer Split that he can have an influence outside of the laning phase as well. His split-second judgements and dominance against champions like Azir will be crucial to the team success.

Because of his mechanical abilities and decision-making, Ruler is sometimes regarded as the world’s second-best ADC right now. Ruler has a large champion pool, which offers him a lot of options.

This allows Gen.G to easily shuffle about its draft, making it difficult for the other side to make counter-picks.

T1

Of course, we cannot exclude T1, the 3-time World Championship. T1’s Summer Split at League of Legends’ LCK was not great. Even against the most difficult of opponents, the team struggled at times.

Top 5 best teams to compete in Worlds 2022 League of Legends 22

T1 is still one of the better teams in the competition and has a good chance of winning it all if they follow the meta. T1 prefers off-meta choices as a response to some of the strongest in the current patch.

If this flaw in T1 is addressed, there is little doubt that, with the exception of the ADC, T1 has some of the top players in every other position. Faker is still recognized as one of the greatest players of all time, and he is an excellent team captain that can lead the team to their 4th World Championship.

EDG

EDG had a rather underperformance Summer Split, but it is undeniably one of the best in the competition.

Top 5 best teams to compete in Worlds 2022 League of Legends 23

EDG is a really tough team that understands how to grind out results. The team is also the defending World Championship, thus it will have more experience than most of the other teams.

EDG isn’t the cleanest team, and their gameplan is frequently rough. However, even at the 2021 World Championships, the team shown that they are incredibly savvy when it comes to teamfights, and this has not altered to this day.

Top Esports

Top Esports, the runner-up of LPL 2022 Summer Split, is the final team to be evaluated on this list. This team deserves to be on the list solely because of the quality of its players.

Top 5 best teams to compete in Worlds 2022 League of Legends 24

Players like Jackeylove, Tian, Knight, and Wayward are some of the most informed players in the world, and the squad is frequently able to make out results through some heroic individual efforts.

Audiences have remarked, however, that Top Esports frequently excels via individual brilliance, and that the talent disparity with other teams makes this lineup a major danger.

Congratulations to GenG on qualifying for the 2022 World Championship https://notagamer.net/congratulations-to-geng-on-qualifying-for-2022-world/ https://notagamer.net/congratulations-to-geng-on-qualifying-for-2022-world/#respond Sat, 20 Aug 2022 17:13:23 +0000 https://notagamer.net/?p=49949 Gen.G will represent Korea’s LCK at the 2022 League of Legends World Championship. With a victory over Liiv SANDBOX earlier today in the semifinal round of the LCK Summer Playoffs, the top team from the Summer Split guaranteed their spot at Worlds.

Gen.G took a commanding two-game lead over SANDBOX in the current series before losing the last game. In game four, GenG retaliated with a commanding 22-minute victory, shutting the door on any chance of a SANDBOX reverse sweep. With a final set score of 15/4/37, GenG mid laner Chovy earned a KDA of 13.0 for the whole game, which was by far the highest of all 10 players.

With their victory over SANDBOX, Gen.G progressed to the LCK postseason championship game. GenG has collected enough championship points thanks to their top-two finish in the Summer Split and a second-place result in the Spring Split to guarantee that they won’t fall short of the required number to automatically qualify for Worlds. The team won’t have to compete in either the LCK regional finals or the Worlds play-in round thanks to Gen.G’s championship point total, which is more essential.

GenG

In the LCK, the team with the most championship points that have not previously qualified for Worlds by winning the Summer Split will do so by virtue of their overall championship point total. Even if GenG loses the LCK championship game next week, they would still have 170 championship points at the end of the season, more than any other club in the league that would also be aiming to qualify through points.

During the LCK regional finals later this year, the teams who finished third through sixth in championship points will compete for a final chance to compete at Worlds. Liiv SANDBOX lost in the playoffs, but they will still have an opportunity to compete in the event that follows the LCK grand finals for one of the four LCK seeds at Worlds.

The semifinal game between T1 and DWG KIA will take place tomorrow on the opposing side of the playoff bracket. On August 28, the LCK grand finals will take place, and Gen.G will be waiting for the victor of that series.

One minion helped DAMWON beat Gen.G – “Winion” https://notagamer.net/one-minion-helped-damwon-beat-gen-g-winion/ https://notagamer.net/one-minion-helped-damwon-beat-gen-g-winion/#respond Sat, 06 Aug 2022 09:26:58 +0000 https://notagamer.net/?p=49061 Two of the most prestigious League of Legends teams are Gen.G and DAMWON KIA. There is a lot of history between these two teams, with DAMWON winning the 2020 World Championship and Gen.G consistently falling short of greatness.

However, the story has changed this year. Gen.G now leads the LCK and appears to be on track to win their first domestic crown, even defeating T1. However, DAMWON KIA made an important roster addition that allowed them to pull off a victory.

Meet Steve, the freshly hired caster minion of DAMWON who was given that name by the English casting crew. Without being ironic, this caster minion actually helped DAMWON win this match.

Even though he only plays a small part in the video, the fact that this caster minion survived is more significant than you might realize.

Structures in League of Legends feature backdoor defense. In order to prevent players from simply walking up to towers and taking them in the late game, this mechanic was included. However, that layer of defense is nullified if a wave of minions, or even just one, enters the area of a tower.

Notice how DAMWON focused on Steve so that neither the towers nor the minions could aim toward him. Steve would not have been able to smash those towers and win if he had received even a single hit.

Keeping that one caster minion alive allowed DAMWON to secure their victory in Game 2 of the series while Gen.G’s respawn timers were rapidly running out. However, despite DAMWON’s historic win in Game 2, Gen.G still prevailed 2-1 to take the series.

One minion helped DAMWON beat Gen.G - "Winion" 26

Although it is disappointing for DAMWON supporters that they were unable to witness them defeat Korea’s top team, we won’t soon forget the tale of Steve’s bravery.

Peanut agrees that there is a massive difference between LCK and LPL junglers https://notagamer.net/peanut-massive-difference-lck-lpl-junglers/ https://notagamer.net/peanut-massive-difference-lck-lpl-junglers/#respond Fri, 05 Aug 2022 11:14:05 +0000 https://notagamer.net/?p=48952 Peanut from Gen.G is amazed at the junglers in China’s League of Legends Pro League

Gen.G is proven to be a highly competitive team due to their lengthy win streak, particularly their recent victory over T1 and KDF, which ended T1’s undefeated run for a long time.

Peanut, the 24-year-old jungler who just won the recent 2022 LCK Summer Split match against KDF, had an interview with Korizon Esports on the differences between his position in South Korea and China.

Surprisingly, Peanut praised the other major region, claiming that LPL junglers are far better for their multiple international titles.

“The LPL has been winning all the international tournaments over the [last few years]. So my result-based analysis is, of course, the LPL is better at the moment”

“The junglers from top of the LPL standings are really good,” “TES Tian, JDG Kanavi, V5 Karsa, RNG Wei, and EDG Jiejie.”

Peanut agrees that there is a massive difference between LCK and LPL junglers 27
Image via LPL

But what distinguishes the LPL from the LCK is that junglers from the mid and lower tiers are competitive, as Peanut discovered when he played for LGD Gaming in 2020.

“Each [LPL] jungler seemed to have distinctive characteristics, and merits on his own,”

According to Peanut, there is a “big difference” between the LPL and the LCK junglers.  He also disclosed that, contrary to common assumptions, LCK and LPL teams seldom prepare against each other. When they do, they aim to incorporate the best aspects of their opposition’s playstyle into their own.

Peanut went so far as to try to alter his playstyle to be comparable to LPL junglers ahead of the LCK Spring playoffs to be ahead of the competition in Korea.
