League of Legends ranked system to receive major adjustments in Patch 14.10 midseason https://notagamer.net/ranked-system-adjustments-patch-14-10-midseason/ https://notagamer.net/ranked-system-adjustments-patch-14-10-midseason/#respond Sun, 12 May 2024 03:03:12 +0000 https://notagamer.net/?p=74134 Riot Games have revealed significant adjustments set to shake up the game’s ranked mode in Split 2. These modifications, scheduled to go live on May 15, 2024, encompass various aspects including placement matches, demotion safeguards, and the reintroduction of duo queueing for players ranked Masters and above.

patch
Image via Riot Games

LoL midseason ranked system changes

The primary objective behind these changes is to address issues such as negative LP gain and encourage a smoother progression for players. One notable change is the extension of the maximum rank achievable after placement matches, now reaching up to Diamond III instead of stopping at Emerald I.

rank

Riot aims to expedite players’ advancement to their rightful rank on their primary account, discouraging the practice of purchasing new accounts for gameplay advantages.

Furthermore, adjustments to demotion safeguards are on the horizon for Split 2. These changes will reduce the leniency between divisions, making it tougher for players to maintain their current rank if their LP falls below zero. While tiers will still offer some degree of protection against demotion, players will experience recalibrated LP upon demotion, better reflecting their skill level.

League of Legends ranked system to receive major adjustments in Patch 14.10 midseason 5

Lastly, Riot plans to reintroduce the option for duo queueing in Masters+ ranks, a feature previously disabled in 2021. While these changes will not affect regions such as China and Korea, Riot believes they can enhance the ranked experience for players at higher skill levels.

Overall, these upcoming adjustments aim to create a more balanced and rewarding ranked experience for League of Legends players, addressing key issues and fostering a healthier competitive environment.

New Dragon-themed Tower update made players urge Riot for adjustments https://notagamer.net/dragon-themed-tower-update-urge-riot-adjustments/ https://notagamer.net/dragon-themed-tower-update-urge-riot-adjustments/#respond Mon, 15 Apr 2024 10:59:29 +0000 https://notagamer.net/?p=72866 Currently, League of Legends players are advocating for Riot Games developers to seriously consider a fan-generated dragon concept that could potentially revolutionize the towers on Summoner’s Rift.

Ever since Riot Games introduced Elemental dragons onto the Rift back in 2022, the League community has been buzzing with excitement. This addition not only injected a fresh dose of variety into the long-standing MOBA’s gameplay but also significantly altered the terrain of the map itself.

New changes to dragon buff in season 12
Image via Riot Games

Now, players are envisioning even further enhancements, with the emergence of a new proposal titled the “Dragon Map Tower Update,” which was shared by a fan on Reddit on April 14th.

New Dragon Tower concept

This proposed update proposes that Elemental dragons could bestow unique effects upon towers, effectively transforming the landscape of Summoner’s Rift. This innovation could potentially introduce a dynamic aspect to the Rift, particularly when the third drake objective materializes.

The League community eagerly embraced this idea, with players swiftly concocting additional modifications. For instance, one player suggested that the Infernal Drake could imbue towers with area-of-effect attacks, potentially dissuading players from attempting risky dive under the protection of towers.

chemtech

Meanwhile, others speculated that the Mountain Drake might grant towers resistance or even a shield mechanism when they are at full health, thereby increasing their durability.

Further suggestions included the Ocean Drake augmenting towers with accelerated health regeneration, and the Cloud Drake extending the range of towers while providing intermittent speed boosts.

At present, towers possess formidable armor and magic resistance in the early stages of the game, making them challenging to demolish without the aid of buffs like Rift Herald or Voidgrubs. However, as matches progress, their resilience drops, resulting in less impact on gameplay dynamics.

Despite the enthusiasm from the player base, the League of Legends developers have yet to issue a response to these compelling suggestions.

This recurring pattern of implementing more nerfs than buffs reflects Riot Games’ unwavering commitment to maintaining a balanced and enjoyable experience for its player base.

As we look ahead to the first update of November, Riot Games is poised to introduce a series of substantial changes. These adjustments encompass three buffs, seven nerfs, and three significant adjustments for champions that have been under close scrutiny throughout Season 13 meta. Riot’s lead game designer, Phroxzon, has confirmed these developments in anticipation of the patch’s highly-anticipated release.

LoL players can already delve into the freshly released LoL patch 13.22, which went live on November 8, 2023. This trend of more nerfs than buffs continues to shape the direction of the game, signaling Riot Games’ dedication to maintaining a balanced and enjoyable experience for players.

What’s particularly intriguing about this upcoming patch 13.22 is the substantial attention being given to mage champions. Their base attacks are set to receive significant buffs, a move that might temporarily skew the metagame balance. However, this decision is part of Riot Games’ broader strategy to better understand the boundaries of power within the game.

In summary, Patch 13.22 promises to be a patch of great significance, with mage champions receiving significant base attack buffs, a plethora of nerfs and adjustments, and a notable absence of item changes, indicating Riot Games’ commitment to shaping the future of League of Legends.

LoL patch 13.22 is set to bring a mix of buffs, nerfs, and adjustments that promise to have a significant impact when it arrives in November. Riot is committed to making every alteration count in this upcoming update, ensuring the game’s evolving meta remains engaging and balanced.

Specifically, you can expect to see 3 champions receiving buffs, 7 getting the nerf treatment, and 3 undergoing substantial adjustments in patch 13.22, according to Riot Phroxzon. Riot’s watchful eye has been closely tracking these champions throughout the progression of Season 13, making these changes particularly noteworthy.

In a departure from the norm, the dev team has opted not to tinker with items or runes in this patch, and gameplay systems will remain untouched. This suggests a focus on champion balance and the fine-tuning of the existing ecosystem rather than introducing new variables into the mix.

LoL devs hinted at Katarina buffs in upcoming changes https://notagamer.net/lol-devs-katarina-buffs-upcoming-changes/ https://notagamer.net/lol-devs-katarina-buffs-upcoming-changes/#respond Tue, 24 Oct 2023 07:44:33 +0000 https://notagamer.net/?p=66170 Katarina may receive buffs in the near future, as suggested by Riot August, who is concerned about her low win rate.

Katarina is known for her ability to unleash devastating pentakills, striking fear into squishy champions. A well-fed Katarina can single-handedly dominate a game, however, her impact seems to diminish as you climb the ranked ladder.

Katarina’s performance has been lackluster lately, evident in her win rate in Patch 13.20, according to League statistic op.gg. Riot August, during one of his recent Twitch streams, discussed champions with minimal presence in professional play, and Katarina naturally came up. She’s rarely chosen by pro players, primarily because her design doesn’t align with the pro play style.

According to Riot August, Katarina is in need of buffs. Currently, her win rate hovers at 48.80% across all ranks. He believes that Katarina mains’ skill and dedication have a more significant impact on her win rate compared to non-mains. This makes sense since Katarina is a high-skill-floor champion which attracts dedicated one-trick players.

Despite her dominating reputation, even skilled Katarina mains struggle to achieve victory with her. What often goes unnoticed is her weak laning phase. If Katarina can’t secure an advantage through roaming, her value in the game diminishes.

Recent adjustments by Riot to the jungle and the increased durability of marksmen have impacted the burst damage of assassins, including Katarina. She no longer destroys marksmen as swiftly as before.

Additionally, her passive ability requires her to secure a takedown before she can unleash her full potential. With support champions being potent in the current meta, squishy champions have access to substantial sustain. All these factors contribute to her low win rate, despite having dedicated and skilled one-trick players.

In conclusion, it appears that Riot August’s call for Katarina buffs is well-founded. However, Riot currently has its hands full with upcoming patches and preseason changes, so the timeline for addressing this issue remains uncertain.
