The spotlight of League of Legends upcoming Patch 12.7 definitely belong to Zeri.

Riot Games is buffing and nerfing certain League of Legends champions in Patch 12.7, with adjustments focusing on Wukong, Lee Sin, Ryze, and others. While over a dozen champions’ power levels will be enhanced and adjusted in Patch 12.7, no champion will receive a more significant set of adjustments than Zeri.

With nerfs to all four of her active abilities, as well as her base numbers, Riot is preparing to gut the Spark of Zaun as the 2022 League season approaches the halfway mark. The contents of Zeri’s impending wave of nerfs were revealed in an update posted by League’s lead champion designer August Browning.

First and foremost, in Patch 12.7, Zeri’s base attack damage and attack damage per level are both reduced. Her defensive prowess is also addressed, as her base armor is reduced from 22 to 20, although her HP per level is slightly enhanced from 90 to 95.

Burst Fire (Q), Zeri’s trademark ability, has had its base damage lowered at all ranks in Patch 12.7, and the ability now only applies on-hit effects once per cast. In addition, her Ultrashock Laser (Wbasic )’s damage is being reduced at all tiers, but its scaling qualities via her AD and AP are being enhanced as a countermeasure.

Aside from nerfs to her raw damage in the forthcoming patch, the cooldown of her dash, Spark Surge (E), is being raised from 23 seconds at all levels to 28 seconds at rank one and gradually scaling down to 22 seconds at its highest rank from 23 seconds at all ranks. Zeri’s cooldowns are also being targeted in the form of her ultimate ability, Lightning Crash, which is scheduled to grow by 20 seconds at rank one but drop by 10 seconds later in the game.

The Spark of Zaun has been one of the best and most widely debated champions in professional League since her debut earlier this year. According to League metrics site Games of Legends, the champion’s pick/ban rate of 69 percent is the third-highest among all champions in the game’s four major professional regions this season.

These Zeri modifications are planned to be implemented with League Patch 12.7, which is set to be published on April 13th, according to the game’s patch schedule.

Only a few patches left until this year’s Mid-Season Invitational, and as the event approaches, Riot has prepared some intriguing changes.

Riot Games drastically adjusted the meta ahead of MSI last season, putting previously off-meta selections like Lee Sin top lane or Morgana, Zed, and Talon in the jungle onto the top end of the competitive play. Patch 12.7, according to the patch preview released by game designer Tim “Truexy” Jiang, will include some new picks and will mostly focus on the dominant ones.

Patch 12.7 is planned to change 14 champions, with four in particular—Zeri, Ryze, Lee Sin, and Jayce—scheduled to receive nerfs. This update will affect champions at practically every role, with the exception of support, but balancing adjustments will be implemented for champions throughout every position in the near future.

Lee Sin has always been one of the most popular champions in the entire game. Even after multiple changes to his power, solo queue and pro players still pick him for his insane mobility. Currently, Lee Sin has the highest pick rate in League, with 32.25% on the leaderboard, according to OP.GG. So, nerfing him is a good approach for Riot if they want MSI to be filled with more metas.

As for Zeri, ever since her debut in the game in patch 12.2, she has become a popular choice for the carry spot because of her great mobility and significant AOE damage. But due to being so powerful, she has gone through multiple nerfs in only 5 patches. Patch 12.7 will see the continuation of her nerfs and hopefully this will be the last nerfs for her for a while.

Aside from champions, several items like Fimbulwinter, Galeforce, and Moonstone Renewer are also scheduled to be nerfed in Patch 12.7.

League patch 12.7 will be released to the live servers on April 13.
