Riot Games using fan arts for Wild Rift in-game icons

Riot Games got accused of 'stealing' fan arts for in-game icons 1

A recent controversy within the League of Legends community has brought this issue to the forefront, as fans have accused Riot Games of allegedly ‘stealing’ fan-created art for the introduction of new champion icons in the Wild Rift Patch 4.4.

In this forthcoming patch, Riot plans to introduce new champion icons, two of which are centered on Zyra and Evelynn. However, the astute eyes of some community members immediately identified the artwork used in these icons as eerily similar to existing fan art. These fans contend that Riot has essentially taken this fan art, made slight alterations, and is now offering the modified images as in-game icons for sale.

What further complicates this situation is the claim made by yet another member of the community: the original artists supposedly never granted consent for their artwork to be used as official icons within the game.

According to reports, these artists contact with Riot Games to explore potential resolutions to this dispute. Intriguingly, this incident is not the first of its kind involving Riot Games, as the company had been previously accused of using fan art without the artist’s permission in the creation of in-game assets.

A notable example from 2021 involved allegations that Riot had utilized artwork from various artists to create the “Playful Pup” emote for League of Legends. This matter was eventually addressed by the game’s developers, and former game director Jonathan “Bellissimoh” Belliss acknowledged the error.

He also explained that Riot frequently collaborates with external artists when creating in-game icons, which introduces the possibility of some artists passing off others’ work as their own in attempts to have it featured in the game.

The response from Riot Games regarding these allegations is still pending, leaving fans eager for an official statement. As the controversy unfolds, there is a reasonable expectation that Riot may opt to remove the contested icons, thereby navigating the delicate terrain of intellectual property rights in the world of digital art.

Aurelion Sol CGU: Full Abilities descriptions, icons, and more revealed 6
Image via Riot Games

Aurelion Sol returns to the Rift following a Comprehensive Gameplay Update that will make League of Legends players fearful of the new Star Forger’s arrival.

Overall, his new kit outperforms the champion’s existing form. Furthermore, his new kit is comparable to Kindred’s in that both rely on acquiring stacks to strengthen their abilities. This new update will enable you to practice your otherworldly talents as Runeterra’s own space dragon, whether you’re slugging it out on the Summoner’s Rift or racing through the Howling Abyss.

New Aurelion Sol abilities

Passive – Cosmic Creator

Aurelion Sol CGU: Full Abilities descriptions, icons, and more revealed 7

Aurelion Sol’s damaging abilities break down enemies into stacks of Stardust, which permanently improves each of his abilities.

Q – Breath of Light

Aurelion Sol CGU: Full Abilities descriptions, icons, and more revealed 8

Aurelion Sol channels his dragon breath for a few seconds, damaging the first enemy hit and splashing reduced damage onto nearby enemies. Each second the breath is channeled directly at an enemy will deal bonus damage, which is improved by the amount of Stardust that’s been collected. This ability collects Stardust if the target is a champion.

W – Astral Flight

Aurelion Sol CGU: Full Abilities descriptions, icons, and more revealed 9

Aurelion Sol flies over the terrain in a targeted direction. While in this state, he can cast other abilities. Breath of Light no longer has a cooldown or maximum channel duration and deals increased damage while flying.

Astral Flight’s remaining cooldown is reduced whenever an enemy champion dies after being recently damaged by Aurelion Sol. Stardust increases Astral Flight’s maximum range.

E – Singularity

Aurelion Sol CGU: Full Abilities descriptions, icons, and more revealed 10

Aurelion Sol summons a black hole, damaging enemies and slowly pulling them toward its center. This ability grants Stardust each time an enemy dies within the black hole, and for each second, an enemy champion is caught inside it.

The center of the black hole executes enemies who are below a certain percentage of their maximum health. Stardust increases Singularity’s size as well as the execution threshold.

R – Falling Star / The Skies Descend

Aurelion Sol CGU: Full Abilities descriptions, icons, and more revealed 11

Falling Star: Aurelion Sol crashes a star into the earth. This impact deals magic damage and stuns enemies while also granting Stardust for each enemy champion it hits. Gathering enough Stardust transforms Aurelion Sol’s next Falling Star into The Skies Descend.

Aurelion Sol CGU: Full Abilities descriptions, icons, and more revealed 12

The Skies Descend: Aurelion Sol drags a giant star down from the heavens with an increased impact zone and increased damage, knocking up enemies rather than stunning them. A shockwave then spreads from the edge of the impact zone, which damages and slows the enemies it hits.

Stardust increases the impact area of both Falling Star and The Skies Descend.

The new abilities will be available in Patch 13.3, which will go live on League’s servers next month on February 7.

She has a large fan following and a slew of cosmetics to her credit. Riot appears to be committed to the champion and providing Ahri players with what they have requested an ASU upgrade.

Several redesigned splash arts, ability icons, and teasers for the Ahri ASU have been patched into League’s PBE, but neither they nor the champion’s new model have been made publicly accessible for testing. According to SkinSpotlights on Twitter, just a few splash arts for Ahri’s abundance of skins have been significantly altered, with the rest featuring modest changes based on the champion’s new appearance.

Ahri’s ability icons have been modified somewhat to better reflect how they appear in-game currently. All of these icons give her a more mystical sense, and they look quite polished when scaled down.

New splash arts

For the time being, we only know of a handful of skins that are getting splash art updates. Some are modest adjustments, such as expressions. However, a couple of them, such as Midnight, have been totally redesigned.

Each portrays the updated graphics of the champion, highlighting her face and tails, while bringing them into line with the splashes of the more current skins.

A video of the abilities in action with her revised basic skin was also shared by SkinSpotlights. While all of her skills remain the same, they now feature additional mystical effects when cast, such as eerie lights and hazy trails. When performing her ultimate, Spirit Rush, Ahri now floats as well.

It is unknown when Ahri’s ASU will be live on League’s servers, or when it will be released for testing on the PBE. However, the presence of these assets suggests that the ASU will go to the players’ mind sooner or later.

All 16 Undocumented Items icon changes in Patch 12.21 https://notagamer.net/16-undocumented-item-icon-changes-patch-12-21/ https://notagamer.net/16-undocumented-item-icon-changes-patch-12-21/#respond Fri, 04 Nov 2022 13:33:34 +0000 https://notagamer.net/?p=54291 In patch 12.21, Riot modified the icons for many items. The following is a list of all the icon modifications

Items are the most important aspect of League of Legends. They are at the core of each champion that can use to improve their stats and effects. Players can purchase them in-game via the shop, which often costs gold.

Typically, throughout the preseason time, Riot changes numerous things to ensure they are not out of date while also keeping up with the meta. As part of the preseason 2023, League of Legends released a slew of new items for the game on October 4.

Riot revealed throughout the preseason that they will be upgrading and adding 12 items. However, before the major preseason patch, Riot intends to cosmetically improve several of them. Interestingly enough, they haven’t said a word about the icon changes in this Patch 12.21.

Luckily enough, social media and content creators don’t let players down as they have swiftly discovered all of the undocumented icon changes, and even those that haven’t appeared on the live servers yet.

The 2022 Preseason Essence Emporium was a success. And now that the MSI 2022 has arrived, the Blue Essence store for League of Legends players has opened. The Essence Emporium is an annual limited-time sale introduced to the League of Legends client. It appears twice during the season, once halfway through and once near the ending.

In the Essence Emporium sale, players can purchase a variety of items. The one-of-a-kind shop sells chromas, icons, wards, emotes, and other special prizes that can only be purchased with Blue Essence. Those of you who have saved a lot of Essences may be able to buy a skin. Here are all of the things in the shop that can be purchased using Blue Essence:

1,500 BEMystery icons (Does not include esports icons, may contain Mystery Mini Icons)
2,000 BEChromas
2,500 BEMystery Mini icons
4,900 BEMystery wards (guaranteed to be a ward skin you don’t already own)
6,000 BEEssence Collector Ward
50,000 BEMake It Rain Emote
50,000 BEGemstone + Gemstone Knight Icon
75,000 BEMoneybags Emote
75,000 BEGemstone + Gemstone Prince Icon
100,000 BEGemstone + Gemstone King Icon
150,000 BEURFWick skin

The 2022 Preseason Essence Emporium was a success. And now that the MSI 2022 has arrived, the Blue Essence store for League of Legends players has opened.

Unfortunately, there is no information from Riot Games on the Essence Emporium, and they seldom give out precise information, so players will have to log in a day after the patch releases to find the shop live.

Many people speculated that the 2022 Mid-Season Essence Emporium will begin with League of Legends patch 12.9. However, because it did not go live with patch 12.9, it is now extremely likely that the shop will begin with League of Legends patch 12.10 on May 26.

MSI 2022 Drops and Rewards for players to earn https://notagamer.net/msi-2022-drops-rewards/ https://notagamer.net/msi-2022-drops-rewards/#respond Tue, 10 May 2022 05:45:55 +0000 https://notagamer.net/?p=45227 The 2022 Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) in Busan is approaching within a few hours left and viewers can’t wait any longer

So, with all the action coming around, and neither the LPL nor the LCL representative taking part in the event, it comes to mind if there will be any prizes for the tournament. Of course, the winning team will receive the trophy, but will there be any rewards for the players who watch the tournament?

MSI Drops and Rewards

In past years, people who watched the tournament and connected their League of Legends account to lolesports.com received watch rewards. This allowed users to obtain esports capsules with specific prizes based on the match and what was going on in the game.

While Riot Games has not made any statements regarding drops, it is believable that there will be rewards for viewers once again at MSI 2022. Leaks have also revealed that this year’s esports capsules will have additional information, however, this may still be a work in progress and will only be available for Worlds 2022.

Riot TyraMaySue had also revealed that the drops in the MSI capsules will target some specific champions emotes and icons

You can earn prizes by viewing the 2022 Mid-Season Invitational on the lolesports website, as previously stated. Simply sign in to your Riot account and watch the games from there.

Riot will most likely prioritize you receiving icons and other rewards for participating the 2022 Mid-Season Invitational. As TyraMaySure stated, they would concentrate on certain champion icons for the tournament.

So, are you prepared for MSI 2022? Keep a watch out for The LCK’s undefeated champion, T1, as they begin off the tournament against VCS representatives Saigon Buffalo in just a few hours.

League’s Blue Essence Store is closing soon https://notagamer.net/leagues-blue-essence-store-is-closing-soon/ https://notagamer.net/leagues-blue-essence-store-is-closing-soon/#respond Sun, 23 May 2021 08:04:07 +0000 https://notagamer.net/?p=33033 Occasionally every year, Riot Games periodically brings back League of Legends’ Blue Essence Emporium shop to allow players to have a chance to spend their Blue Essence on items other than champions and related transactions, but that store isn’t going to be around for much longer.

It is worth mentioning that the shop will shut down on May 26th in the League of Legends client, so if there is something you want to buy from it, now is the time to stock up on Blue Essence and spend it until the shop shuts.

Blue Essence Emporium

The Blue Essence Emporium this year has returned as a mid-season and end-of-season affair. Yet up until the MSI 2021 Final, the reopening of this shop is still unfamiliar with much fanfare. It’s been going on for about a week now so if you didn’t notice this notes that is in the No.3 slot of the Client store’s messages, you might as well miss the initial opening of the Essence Emporium.

League's Blue Essence Store is closing soon 33

However, you still can spend your Blue Essence in the remaining of the available time. The shop’s range of Chromas, icons, and other products is the same as it was when it first opened a few days ago.

League's Blue Essence Store is closing soon 34

You will see the Chromas accessible during this event by going to the “Skins” section of the store and sorting by the “Chromas” option, then checking the box at the bottom that says “Available for Blue Essence.” Skin like Star Guardian Zoe and Battle Queen cosmetics also have Chromas available in the shop, as also the Emerald Chromas that were formerly reserved for the League Partner Program, but these Emerald will cost you extra to earn.

Again, The Emporium will close on May 26th so players can start spending the Blue Essence right now.
