However, apart from that issue, the Hall of Legends battle pass associated with this event is considered one of the best we’ve had in a long time.

The controversial Hall of Legends Battle Pass

The most controversial event in League of Legends has to be the recent Hall of Legends. This event was created to celebrate Faker’s induction into the prestigious Hall of Fame, honoring his impressive career achievements that date back to 2013.

Despite the intentions, the event quickly faced backlash from players. The main reason for the dissatisfaction was the high price of the Immortalized Legend Ahri skin. This expensive skin overshadowed much of the event and became the primary point of criticism.

Nevertheless, the Hall of Legends battle pass stands out as one of the best we’ve ever received from the developers, both in terms of value and storytelling. The pass costs 1950 RP, offering great value for the price. It’s much cheaper than the Ahri skin bundles and provides a variety of rewards, along with a compelling narrative aspect.

The battle pass guides players through Faker’s journey as a professional player, sharing interesting facts about his first game, his first pentakill, and more.

Additionally, the pass rewards players with several SKT skins, all chosen by Faker during his victories at Worlds. These skins include SKT T1 Zed, Ryze, and Syndra, which alone are worth 3300 RP.

Moreover, players receive a substantial amount of Mythic Essence through the pass. Mythic Essence is used to buy rare cosmetics in the rotating shop. Normally, fully completing an entire event gives 100 Mythic Essence, but this pass alone provides 125, adding to its incredible value.

Furthermore, the pass includes many other bonuses such as emotes, banners, summoner icons, and orange essence, making it an even better deal.

What makes this battle pass even more appealing is that it is not as grindy as other seasonal events. The experience required to progress does not increase with each level, allowing players to quickly earn rewards through missions provided by the developers.

Unlike other seasonal events, this battle pass does not have a currency system. Although the currency system in events might seem beneficial, it actually limits the rewards players can obtain. This makes the Hall of Legends battle pass far superior.

Despite the controversy surrounding the Immortalized Legend Ahri skin, it is clear that the developers have done an excellent job with the battle pass for this event.

Faker got 14 days banned after Worlds from Riot and here’s their response https://notagamer.net/faker-14-days-banned-worlds-riot-responds/ https://notagamer.net/faker-14-days-banned-worlds-riot-responds/#respond Fri, 01 Dec 2023 03:30:07 +0000 https://notagamer.net/?p=67543 The intricate dance between pro players and the auto-ban system in League of Legends took an unexpected turn after the 2023 Worlds when T1 Faker, a 4 times Worlds winner, found himself on the receiving end of an unforeseen suspension.

The catalyst for this suspension was a rather unusual culprit—an internet outage in Busan, the city where he was situated.

Faker got 14 days banned after Worlds from Riot and here's their response 4

Faker got a 2-week ban from Riot Games

In League of Legends, a consistent internet connection is paramount for uninterrupted gameplay. Any drop in connectivity can lead to a player being forcibly disconnected from the game, leaving their champion stranded in the spawn area. This not only disrupts the flow of the match but also has the potential to incur penalties from the auto-ban system if such disconnections become recurrent.

Faker got 14 days banned after Worlds from Riot and here's their response 5

In Faker’s case, the unexpected suspension unfolded during a solo queue session, where he was detected by the system for going AFK due to the above mentioned internet outage in Busan. Despite the circumstance being beyond his control, the auto-ban system issued a 14-day suspension based on reports of him leaving the match.

Swiftly acknowledging their error, Riot Games promptly rectified the situation by lifting the suspension on the world champion. However, Faker, known for his professionalism, took it upon himself to extend an apology letter to the developers, expressing understanding of the unintentional mishap.

faker

“Im sorry, i wont leave the game again”

The incident gained additional visibility as one player in Faker’s match was streaming the gameplay and captured the moment when Faker experienced the disconnect. Subsequently, this player reported the incident, inadvertently triggering the suspension for the Worlds winner.

While the situation revealed a glitch in the system, Riot Games’ prompt response in unbanning Faker underscores their commitment to fairness and the integrity of competitive play. The incident serves as a reminder of the delicate balance between automated systems and the nuanced scenarios that can arise, even for professionals like T1 Faker.

Doinb’s complaint of LPL commemorative skins have stirred up outrage in the community https://notagamer.net/doinbs-complaint-lpl-commemorative-skins/ https://notagamer.net/doinbs-complaint-lpl-commemorative-skins/#respond Sun, 17 Sep 2023 08:39:48 +0000 https://notagamer.net/?p=65042 Recently, LPL and Tencent officially revealed 10 skins dedicated to the top 10 best players in the LPL. This list was compiled to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the LPL’s introduction to the League of Legends community

The top 10 players selected include Uzi, Clearlove, Doinb, Scout, Rookie, Xiaohu, Ming, TheShy, JackeyLove, and Meiko. These are all legendary names in the LPL and the League of Legends community.

Notably, except for Uzi, Xiaohu, Clearlove, and Ming, all the other players on the list have previously won the League of Legends World Championship. Furthermore, Uzi, with his established reputation and influence in LPL, also received a Prestige skin. Of course, these skins are exclusively available on the LPL server.

Doinb’s complaint of LPL commemorative skins have stirred up outrage in the community 9

However, Doinb, one of the top 10 players who got voted, had surprising comments about the commemorative skins by the LPL and Tencent. According to Doinb, he had no prior knowledge that he would receive a skin.

Doinb stated: “I had absolutely no idea about having a ‘Top 10 players of LPL’ commemorative skin until I woke up. They never asked us which champion we wanted. Are you even asking if we get a share of the profits from the skin?

Doinb’s complaint of LPL commemorative skins have stirred up outrage in the community 11

Doinb’s statement caught the League of Legends community off guard. Prior to this, many opinions suggested that the skins looked no different from the multiple chromas of the World Championship skins.

Aside from a few players who didn’t have World Championship skins, quite a few fans believe that the LPL and Tencent simply took the World Championship skins, made some minor adjustments to color and design, and presented them as commemorative skins.

Doinb’s complaint of LPL commemorative skins have stirred up outrage in the community 12
Doinb’s complaint of LPL commemorative skins have stirred up outrage in the community 13

Among these players, Doinb seems to be the most frustrated. His FPX Malphite skin has consistently been considered one of the worst World Championship skins in the history of the tournament, and this skin itself is not very popular.

Doinb’s complaint of LPL commemorative skins have stirred up outrage in the community 14

Moreover, Doinb’s said that players were not informed about the “Top 10 players of LPL” commemorative skins can also be interpreted as players might not receive any profit from the LPL or Tencent for these skins. If this is indeed the case, it’s clear that Tencent and the LPL are monetizing the players’ reputations without considering their opinions.

There were other item and system adjustments to try to balance the game. Riot Phroxzon stated that the majority of the items landed successfully, with few outliers discovered.

Riot is working hard to adjust the game for the competitive environment as the Worlds 2023 patch approaches. Patch 13.18 is the second-to-last patch before Worlds, since Riot will be fine-tuning the game, including the release of Briar.

Here’s all you need to know about the League of Legends tournament

The League of Legends World Championship is one of the world’s largest esports competitions. Since its inception in Sweden in 2011, the League Championship has travelled the globe, taking place on practically every continent and been won by some of the most recognisable teams in esports history.

The Worlds 2023 tournament returns to South Korea, which hosted the final stages of the 2014 edition as well as the full 2018 event. After competing in Mexico and the United States in 2022, the event will once again be restricted to a single host country. Despite the fact that Worlds 2023 is still many months away, Riot has already revealed several elements regarding the seasonal tournament.

LoL Worlds 2023 details

The tournament will take place at four distinct locations in South Korea from October 10 to November 19.

LoL Worlds 2023: Date, Schedule, Location, Format, and more 19

The first two stages of the tournament will be held in Seoul’s LoL Park and the KBS Arena. The quarter-finals and semi-finals will be contested at Busan’s Sajik Indoor Gymnasium before the tournament returns to Seoul for the championship match, which will be broadcast live from the Gocheok Sky Dome.

  • Play-Ins: Oct. 10 — Oct. 15 at LoL Park in Seoul, South Korea.
  • Group Swiss Stage: Oct. 19-23 and Oct. 26-29 at the KBS Arena in Seoul, South Korea.
  • Quarterfinals: Nov. 2-5 at the Sajik Indoor Gymnasium in Busan, South Korea.
  • Semifinals: Nov. 11-12 in the Sajik Indoor Gymnasium in Busan, South Korea.
  • Finals: Nov. 19 in the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul, South Korea.

The Worlds 2023 will have 22 teams from across the world. The event will start off with the Play-In Stage, in which the lower-ranked teams compete for two slots in the Swiss Stage. They will join the 14 seeded teams from the major regions (VCS, PCS, LLA, CBLOL, LJL, LEC, and LCS) there.

The Worlds Qualifying Series (WQS), which will include the fourth seed from the LCS and the LEC, will take place prior to the start of Worlds 2023. The winner of this cross-regional encounter will receive the last Play-In Stage place.

In all, 22 teams will compete in both the Play In and Swiss stages of the tournament in South Korea, with slots available from 9 international leagues. At this point, no teams have secured a place at Worlds. Players might have to check back during the season for an up-to-date list of Worlds 2023 teams.

Tickets for Worlds 2023 are on sale now through Global Interpark for the months of July and August, and will be offered in three waves: one for each key stage of the tournament.

Keep in mind that Worlds 2023 will be held in four different cities in South Korea from October 10 to November 19,  so if you want to attend it, purchasing now might be a good idea.

Significant changes to the League of Legends World Championship’s structure for 2023 have been revealed by Riot Games.

The fourth seeds from each area will compete in a preliminary competition known as the “Worlds Qualifying Series” in which the best-of-five games will be played.

The group stage will be replaced with a Swiss-style format with 16 teams, while the play-in round will have two convergent brackets with best-of-three matches. There will be five rounds of competition, and teams with identical records will face off.

The knockout stage will continue to be a single-elimination best-of-five format with no alterations.

The modifications are meant to guarantee that every Worlds game has significance and reduce the number of elimination games that have no bearing on the final standings.

The League of Legends Worlds 2022 tournament was won by DRX, who surprised everyone. Since then, the DRX 2022 team has selected which champions would receive skins in the annual Worlds skin collection.

Kingen, the DRX 2022 team’s top laner, recently went live. Questions concerning the DRX 2022 skins were raised, and he stated when the skins could be available. Here’s what we know thus far.

DRX Worlds 2022 skins

During the post-final news conference, the DRX players announced the champions they are contemplating for their Worlds 2022 skins. As a result, these six champions will receive skins from their respective players.

  • Pyosik (jungle): Kindred
  • Zeka (mid lane): Akali
  • Deft (bot lane): Caitlyn

  • Juhan: Maokai

The skins will most likely match the team colours (blue and white). Riot has stated that a Prestige skin will be available starting this year, so there’s something more to look forward to. Worlds 2022 will also get a ward skin, icons, chromas, and borders. There is a lot in store for the Worlds 2022 winning content package.

According to Kingen, the skins will be available in early June. If we look at the patch schedule from Riot, Patch 13.11 will go live on June 1, 2023. That corresponds to the timeline Kingen mentioned, so the skins should be available around May 17, when the new PBE update is released.

The product is a “Virtual Pass” that may include both digital and physical forms such as in-game skins and Worlds merchant (Worlds skin exclusive variant, in-game event pass, plus some exclusive content,…)

The Virtual Pass’s aims are to provide fans with:

  • A comprehensive online Worlds watching experience;
  • A fantastic value package of products and services;
  • More avenues for them to exhibit their enthusiasm and fandom.

Needham went on to state that he plans to expand the product into Valorant esports next year, as well as provide more “experiential features” for fans.

Riot Games stated that the inspiration for this notion originated from the absence of live event income from esports tournaments when compared to traditional sports.

While League of Legends or Valorant matches may easily sell out, most fans would undoubtedly prefer to watch the tournaments at home for free on social media or streaming platforms.

Other possible esports-specific and team-specific revenue activations were also explored in the blog post, such as Riot’s notion to compensate for a lack of broadcast licensing fees for their league by targeting adverts to fans viewing on their platform.

Worlds 2023 is still months away, and teams have yet to compete in the Mid-Season Invitational, thus the specifics of what will be included in the virtual pass may alter or be adjusted in the near future.
